Recently, the animated movie Kpop Demon Hunters, available on Netflix, has gone viral in 41 countries worldwide.

Released on June 25, 2025, the film continues to captivate audiences four weeks later, thanks to its unique story.

The plot revolves around Huntrix, a K-pop girl group, keeping the world safe by using their songs to keep their fans and others safe.

However, their mission is complicated by the Saja Boys, a demon K-pop boy group, distracting Huntrix from fulfilling their purpose.

Not only does it have a compelling plot, but fans have also been particularly impressed by the incredible details that the movie holds.

Many viewers praised its vibrant and authentic portrayal of Korean culture, especially the vivid depictions of Seoul City.

Another standout element, Derpy, the tiger that appears in the movie, attracted fans due to its strong resemblance to the ho-jak-do, the traditional Korean tiger painting, and its cuteness.

Thanks to widespread fan enthusiasm, not only has the film gone viral, but its soundtrack is also topping the charts.

Kpop Demon Hunters featured a total of 12 songs, and all of them were ranked and dominated music charts worldwide.

One of its most popular tracks, “Golden,” was ranked No.2 on the Billboard 200 and No.6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

It also reached No.1on the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl U.S. charts.

By these achievements, Huntrix became the first fictional group to reach number 1 in both the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl U.S. charts.

Meanwhile, the SAJA boys became the highest-ranking K-pop group in U.S. Spotify history.

These remarkable milestones were not just made in one day.

It took significant time and effort from the entire staff to create this wonderful film.

Maggie Kang and Chris Applehams, the directors of the movie, said that it took a lot of dedication and effort.

They revealed that it took three to four years to just collect information and had to make several storyboards.

For references, they collected information from current Kpop groups, such as BTS, Stray Kids, ATEEX, BIGBANG, and MONSTA X, for the SAJA Boys.

For Huntrix, they stated they drew inspiration from popular Kpop girl groups such as Itzy, Blackpink, and Twice.

With the support of a few hundred animators from Sony Pictures, they finally brought a movie to life.

However, this film is not solely an animation project; it also features contributions from singers, voice actors, choreographers, and composers.

Most of the songs were produced by Teddy and EJae, and other amazing composers.

Teddy, a celebrated composer, is known for making Blackpink songs, Bigband songs, and other hits in K-pop.

Ejae also sang the “Golden” Rumi part as she composed it as well.

Choreography was made by a team led by Nain Jo, who also made several other choreographies in the K-pop industry.

The Jam Republic dancers also contributed, creating the choreography “Takedown,” one of the songs that Huntrix performed.

Voice actors such as Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo act as Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, the 3 characters that are the group of Huntrix.

Maggie Kang also expressed, “ I always wanted to film regarding to demons, especially the ‘저승사자', the grim reaper, and the traditional tiger.”

Following the movie’s huge success, fans are eagerly hoping for a second season.

One fan, Haewon Jung, shared, “ I loved that the movie had so much detail of Korean culture and its resemblance. I wish season 2 would come out with another element of surprise.”
