The use of ChatGPT, a chat generative pre-trained transformer, has recently raised great concerns in the academic world due to its potential of  facilitating cheating and other misuses.

Educators are growing increasingly more anxious and concerned about the diverse impacts of the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the academic field.

Students have been using ChatGPT to write essays, reports, and exams, as the artificial intelligence chatbot may yield better results and hence higher grades on their works.

The essays or reports written by the ChatGPT creates issues as distinguishing between human-written work and AI-generated work has proven to be difficult and therefore would be problematic.

According to NBC News, a research report written by the ChatGPT was able to pass the final exam for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Adding on to this case, professor Christian Terwiesch, publisher of a research paper "Would Chat GPT3 Get a Wharton MBA? A Prediction Based on Its Performance in the Operations Management Course," stated that the AI’s explanations and the process of analyzing the questions were excellent.

This controversy has led the New York City’s Department of Education to ban the usage of ChatGPT in school as it is available for writing or giving a variety of ideas of specific topics.

It has caused almost all the schools or educational places to avoid using the artificial intelligence chatbot in their academic assignments.

Regarding this issue, Jenna Lyle, the Deputy Press Secretary at New York City’s Department of Education stated that the usage of ChatGPT gives "negative impacts on student learning.”

She added that ChatGPT could hinder the development of academic skill despite the fact that  technology makes the students’ life more convenient.

Contrary to these growing concerns, there is an increase in the number of students utilizing the artificial intelligence service to replace their tasks as a student.

Students around the world are starting to be overly dependent on the chat generative pre-trained transformers to finish their work easily and rapidly without any effort.

ChatGPT improves student’s school life, making it a lot more effortless and easier in academical ways since the chatbot provides a variety of accurate and precise information and knowledge.

However, students should always be cautious of using ChatGPT as a way to replace their role as a student to develop their abilities in writing and critical thinking.

Moreover, chat generative pre-trained transformers can sometimes generate flawed or incomplete results which may provide biased and inaccurate responses.

Therefore, it may influence the users of ChatGPT by biased ideas.

In addition, using the AI program frequently can reduce the interactions and communications between people because people might only focus on the artificial intelligent system to get knowledge.

As the majority of people start to use chat generative pre-trained transformers often, there may be various issues.

Keeping the benefits and drawbacks of this new technological phenomenon in mind, students should always consider and be cautious of using the Chat GPT to supplant their own roles.

Furthermore, people should always contemplate how the using artificial intelligence system can make their lives more convenient and effective; however, how it may cause various problems can lead them to trouble.
