Mohammed Salah made history on December 23rd as he became the first player in Premier League history to achieve 10 goals and 10 assists before Christmas.

The Egyptian forward’s masterclass performance in Liverpool’s emphatic 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspurs saw him contribute two goals and two assists, bringing his seasonal tally to 15 goals and 11 assists.

The 31-year-old orchestrated Liverpool’s attack throughout the match, providing the assist for Dominik Szoboszlai’s strike just before halftime and later setting up Luis Diaz’s 85th-minute goal.

His own brace in the match cemented his place in Premier League history, marking his entry into the prestigious “10-10 club” - a feat never before accomplished this early in a season.

The record-breaking performance adds another chapter to Salah’s remarkable journey in football.

He began his professional journey at El Mokawloon SC in the Egyptian Premier League at just 17.

Salah’s path to stardom took him through FC Basel in Switzerland, where he claimed the Swiss Super League title and caught European football’s attention.

Despite a challenging spell at Chelsea FC following his 2014 Premier League debut, Salah found his stride during subsequent loans to Fiorentina and AS Roma.

However, it was his 2017 transfer to Liverpool that truly transformed his career.

During his debut season at Anfield, he shattered the Premier League single-season scoring record, establishing himself among the league’s elite.

The December 23rd performance further enhanced Salah’s legendary status as he claimed eighth place on the Premier League’s all-time scoring list with 172 goals, placing him just three behind Arsenal icon Thierry Henry.

More importantly, he became Liverpool’s fourth-highest scorer with 229 goals in 373 appearances, surpassing Bill Liddell and maintaining an extraordinary ratio of 1.63 games per goal.

Only Gordon Hodgson, Roger Hunt, and Ian Rush have scored more for the Merseyside club.

“I didn’t think about it before the game to be fair but I’m glad I did it,” Salah remarked modestly.

“[It’s] something that makes me happy. I’m proud and I’ll just keep working hard.”

At his current pace, Salah is projected to break Henry’s record of 24 goals and 20 assists in a season.

With Liverpool currently sitting on top of the table, the winger will be hoping to take his team to their 20th league title, and his second since joining the club.

As the season progresses beyond its halfway point, all eyes will be on Salah to see if he can maintain this exceptional form and continue his record-breaking campaign.
