Donald Trump has begun his second term of presidency and has launched a sweeping immigration crackdown, implementing major  changes in the US Immigration policy.

Trump is making significant alterations to the process of people entering the US or obtaining birthright citizenship.

One of the actions taken by Trump  is termination of birthright citizenship.

This indicates that babies who are born under undocumented immigrants or parents on temporary visas will no longer be granted US citizenship.

Individuals on temporary visas include people who are legally employed workers in the US under a temporary visa and international students holding  student visas.

Trump is enacting this change from February 20 and this will prevent those newborns from issuing Social Security cards or US passports.

This change has sparked  numerous legal challenges from various people such as pregnant mothers, advocacy organizations, and state attorneys.

As it violates the Constitution and longstanding legal precedent, the federal judge has temporarily blocked its implementation  and the Supreme Court is expected to issue a final ruling very soon.

This issue has drawn global attention, as many people aspire to receive US citizenship. This policy shift  will prevent people from gaining it, and also leads to a time for the US to redefine who is American that has continued for more than 150 years.

David Bie, director of immigration studies at the Libertarian Cato Institute, has once stated that the Trump administration will use their all efforts in trying to end birthright citizenship and revealed how this is for the purpose of limiting the damage to future children.

Other than limiting birthright citizenship, Trump is intensifying efforts to deport any illegal immigrants.

Thousands of active-duty troops have been deployed  to the US southern border to apprehend and deport illegal immigrants, with military aircraft being used for deportations.

In fact, Panama is a crucial country to keep an eye on because it is a key pathway for migrants to come to the US illegally.

Trump is now trying to take control of the Panama Canal; however, he is receiving great criticism from people.

Despite Trump’s aggressive push for mass deportations, a significant obstacle remains : funding.

In order to catch and deport the illegal immigrants, massive cost becomes involved and its cost becomes a major financial challenge.

Meissner once said ““It takes enormous resources. There are enormous resources already that are devoted for us as a country toward immigration enforcement,”.

The funding required for deportation is large and people are still calculating how much money will be required.

The border czar Tom Homan also noted, “we’re going to use whatever money we have and do the most efficient operation we can. The more money we have, the more we can do.”.

This shows the immense  sum of money is required and this money will help the US to become more safe and efficient.

Lastly, the US has implemented  a travel ban on several Muslim majority countries in travelling to the US; those countries include Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.

This ban led many protests and rage to be made and some people had to stay in the airport due to cancelled flights.

There are already some people who came into the US during the Biden presidency; however, their futures are uncertain as they do not know what decisions will be made by Trump.
