On March 11th, the Jeju Island Youth Activity Promotion Center held an appointment ceremony for the 17th Jeju Island Youth Participation Committee.

The event was attended at the central auditorium of the centre by 15 youth participation members.

The Youth Participation Committee was created under the “Act on Youth” to enable young people to participate independently in making and promoting local government youth policies.

The appointment ceremony was the committee members' first significant activity.

The ceremony began with a welcoming speech by the director of the Jeju Island Youth Activity Promotion Center, Kang Ok-ryun, followed by a presentation of appointment certificates for the committee members.

It concluded with a commemorative photo of the members.

The Youth Participation Committee is an organisation for young people to voice their opinions in the decision-making process of local government policies.

The committee's primary goal is to encourage youth participation and promote the development of policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of young people in Jeju Island.

The committee has a range of major activities planned for the upcoming year, including regular meetings, youth policy proposals, monitoring and improvement proposals, and youth exchange activities.

These activities will allow young people to engage with their peers, exchange ideas, and work together to create future policies to benefit the youth community.

One of the key activities of the committee will be the regular meetings held once a month.

These meetings will serve as a forum for the members to discuss youth-related issues and develop policy proposals.

The committee will also organise youth exchange activities to encourage cultural exchange and friendship between people in Jeju Island and other regions.

These activities will allow young people to learn about different cultures and develop international friendships.

In addition to these activities, the committee will also hold a special youth meeting to discuss specific youth-related issues that require urgent attention.

The committee members will work together to develop proposals and strategies to address these issues.

Looking forward to the first of April, the committee has planned an education session to help members understand the Youth Participation Committee's objectives, roles, and responsibilities.

The session will be followed by a team-building program to foster teamwork and collaboration among the members.

The committee will also guide the members on major annual activities, conduct an election of officers, and establish internal rules.

The Jeju Island Youth Participation Committee is an essential platform for young people to express their ideas about the policies that will affect their lives.

Through their participation in the committee, young people can develop their leadership skills, engage with their peers, and contribute to their community.

Jeju City Hall is looking forward to seeing the positive impact that the committee will have on the youth policies of Jeju Island.
