Various media around the world have reported shocking news that Ebrahim Raisi, current president of Iran, has passed away on May 19th 2024.

The cause of his death is known to be a helicopter crash caused by bad climate conditions with fog.

The crash was discovered near the village of Uzi, which is located in the northern side of Iran.

It was officially announced after a day of the crash that Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian foreign minister, as well as several government officials, were also on board on the flight with the president.

Ebrahim Raisi is the 8th president of Iran, reigning the nation from 2021 to 2024.

After his loss in the 2017 Iranian presidential election to candidate Hassan Rouhani with a 20% voting rate difference, the president won the 2021 election with a dominant rate of 63% of the votes.

However, many insist that the results of the election were manipulated for Ebrahim Raisi, as the majority of candidates were disqualified.

During his 3 years of authority, Raisi focused on creating strong alliances with countries such as China and Russia, while having strong hostility with the U.S.

After Ebrahim Raisi passed away, tensions in the SouthEast region continued to rise, especially as it relates to the Israel-Hamas war.

Ebrahim Raisi has strong correlations with the Israel-Hamas war, as he had been making several threats towards Israel.

Iran has a precedent of firing missiles near Israeli territory when Ebrahim Raisi was taking control of the nation.

Once the Israel-Hamas war commenced, the Iranian president announced a statement, insisting that “if Israel attacks, nothing will be left of it.”

The relationship between Iran and Israel is historically known to be extremely hostile.

After the Iranian revolution in 1979, the new regime of Iran regarded Israel as a “Zionist regime” and treated them as a dangerous opponent.

The revolution also affected Iran and led it to begin holding hands with anti-Israeli nations such as Lebanon and Palestine, which led to an even worse conflict between the two nations.

In the 21st century, the relationship became more intense as Israel fired experimentary weapons near Iranian territory.

Following the death of Ebrahim Raisi, various Israeli politicians have reacted positively to the incident.

Amichay Eliyahu, the heritage minister of Israel, reacted to the incident with a tweet on social media platform X by captioning the word “Cheers,” showing happiness towards the death of the Iranian president.

Avigdor Liberman, chair of the Yisrael Beytenu party, has stated that the Israeli government will not shed a tear to the death of Ebrahim Raisi, yet emphasizing that the helicopter crash was not related to their actions.

On the other hand, internal reactions within Iran differ from its nearby country.

Thousands of Iranian people gathered in Theran, the capital city of Iran, to commemorate the death of the president, as the body was transferred from Imam Reza shrine to the capital.

The unexpected death of Ebrahim Raisi poses a big question for the future of Iran and its governmental direction, while Mohammad Mokhber, the Vice President of Iran, is temporarily taking the duties of the president.
