On June 22nd, U.S. authorities reported that all five passengers of the missing submarine, Titan, who had tried to explore the Titanic, were now dead.
The passengers of the submarine Titan were the CEO of OceanGate, Stockton Rush, British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, and his son Suleman, French explorer Paul-Henry Nargeolet, and British businessman Hamish Harding.
The hope to rescue the passengers on the Titan alive have already run out due to the fact that it was quite near the seafloor and the submarine would run out of oxygen quickly.
This means that there is a higher chance that the passengers have suffocated inside the submarine.
U.S. authorities have found about 5 pieces of a wrecked submarine that look like Titan’s, about 488m seabed from the bow of the Titanic with Remote Underwater Exploration Equipment called ROV.
They have found that one of the pieces were the tail cone and porthole window, predicting that the cause of their deaths could be a deadly implosion.
Professor Blair Thornton of the University of Southampton has said that when there was a fatal technological problem inside the submarine, causing pressure that is about as heavy as the Eiffel tower, implying that the submarine might have been crushed.
Submarine Titan was out of touch after 1 hour 45 minutes of exploration when it imploded on the 18th of June.
The U.S. authorities notified that they have also found sound signals that seemed to be an implosion of the Titan.
The sound of explosion was heard near the place where the pieces of the Titan was found.
Nonetheless, since there is also a chance that the sound signals are uncertain and untrue, the U.S. authorities and other countries have decided that they would continue to investigate what exactly happened to the Titan.
There also was a sound signal found by the Canadian aircraft, and it was predicted that it was a SOS sign by the passengers on the Titan.
However, it is also believed that the sound has no relation with the location of the pieces of the submarine Titan was found.
Relating to this tragedy, the witnesses of technological problems that have happened before on the submarine Titan have been re-examined.
One passenger, who was once on the Titan before, has recollected the memories when he rode the submarine Titan.
He said that the exploration to the Titanic has been delayed 5 hours due to the technological problems on the electric component on the submarine itself.
In addition, he also remembered that brackets of the stabilizing tube, a component which helps the submarine to depart stably, had fallen out from the submarine, so people tied it again with a cable tie.
This piece of evidence adds on to the current tragedy of the Titan and the causes of its occurrence.
People call all the passengers who were on the Titan when there was an implosion as “true explorers,” who were brave, but also caring to their family and friends around them.
