Shanghai- and Hong Kong-listed pharmaceutical research firm WuXi AppTec has announced the passing of its co-founder, Zhao Ning, who’s life and passing leaves a lasting impact on both the company and the pharmaceutical research landscape.

Although WuXi AppTec's growth in 2023 may not match the exceptional 73% revenue surge to $5.7 billion it had in 2022, it remains committed to its expansion plans. 

The company is setting its sights on Singapore, intending to invest $1.4 billion over the next ten years to establish state-of-the-art labs and research facilities, showcasing its ambitious goals.

Aside from their business achievements, Li Ge and Zhao Ning are known for their philanthropic endeavors.

Their Ge Li & Ning Zhao Family Foundation, dedicated to causes like education and healthcare, made a substantial $20 million donation to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York in 2021, displaying their philanthropic commitments. 

Zhao Ning's untimely passing leaves a void in the pharmaceutical research world. However, her entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering passion for transforming healthcare will continue to inspire.
