Recently, Typhoon Mawar hit Guam, an island located in the North Pacific Ocean.

The typhoon was labelled as a Category 4 hurricane, and lasted from May 19th to June 4th of 2023.

Homes were flooded, basic necessities became scarce, and energy production vanished.

Many residents lacked basic resources such as power, electricity, and water.

While no deaths have been reported at the moment, the restoration of the island may take quite some time.

Hurricane season typically starts around the summer months.

However, scientists believe that the effect of hurricane season will become more severe.

All of this correlates with the recent rise in temperatures and abnormalities in the weather.

Climate change is, in simple terms, a change in temperature and weather patterns over an extended period of time.

Climate change entails an increase in severe weather events and an anomalous fluctuation in temperature.

Parts of the Northern United States will most likely face more severe fires in the future, scientists say.

There may be dry and hot weather conditions throughout the next few weeks, which creates the perfect environment for wildfires to start.

Meteorologists are claiming that Seattle and Chicago will have higher probabilities of wildfire during the summer months of hurricane season.

Additionally, scientists are predicting that this warmer weather may come to affect hurricane season.

Oceans absorb  heat from the atmosphere, which then heats up ocean water temperatures.

According to NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, sea levels are expected to rise by approximately 10-12 inches within the next 30 years.

This will not only have a great effect on the climate, but also on people as well.

Large population groups live near bodies of water such as oceans, canals, or lakes.

If sea levels rise by their predicted amount, many citizens will have to evacuate from their homes.

Take one of the most famous tourist locations, for example: Venice.

Venice, Italy, is famous for its canals.

However, many are worrying that, when the ocean levels rise, the whole city will start sinking and soon disappear under the murky waters of its famous canals.

While flooding in Venice has occurred before, citizens worry that, in a few more years, this flooding will become permanent.

This applies for everywhere else as well.

To prepare for hurricane season, civilians are recommended to do numerous things.

First, identifying a shelter or an evacuation zone is necessary.

This will be needed in case of an emergency or just in general.

Emergency supplies to last at least 3 days are also recommended, as well as a device to check in regularly with the news.

While the news of hurricanes does not provide comfort for anyone, it is a good reminder for those in danger to be careful and alert at all times.
