On November 24th, US President Donald Trump announced the launch of the Genesis Project – a nationwide initiative designed to rapidly advance artificial intelligence technology and secure a leading position in the race for global technology

Led by the Department of Energy (DOE), this initiative seeks to integrate all supercomputers and scientific research data known in history to establish a nationwide AI research platform called the American Science and Security platform.

The executive order specifies that this platform would “train scientific foundation models and create AI agents to test new hypotheses, automate research workflows, and accelerate scientific breakthroughs,” and ultimately “accelerate scientific discovery, strengthen national security, secure energy dominance, enhance workforce productivity, and multiply the return on taxpayer investment into research and development, thereby furthering America’s technological dominance and global strategic leadership.”

President Trump has consistently expressed a strong commitment to establishing the United States as a global leader in artificial intelligence technology.

Issuance of this particular executive order demonstrates his firm commitment to achieving this goal.

The Genesis project would share federal research data with the public’s scientific research institutions such as universities or companies to utilize it in their own work.

The Department of Energy and the US government would be able to actively support the research within those institutions while remaining hands off from regulatory actions.

Different companies, institutions, universities, and the government itself would collaborate to tackle national challenges.

For instance, challenges regarding national security in terms of science, technology, or digital security would be addressed by the Genesis Mission participants.

This initiative would consolidate and rapidly accelerate the scientific research that had been scattered all around the nation, strongly backed up by government funding and policies.

President Trump himself drew parallels between the Genesis Project  and the Manhattan Projet  – a secretive development of nuclear weapons during WW2.

The ultimate goal of this project is “to improve the lives of Americans,” said the Energy Secretary Chris Wright, “supplying more energy… and reversing the price increases that have angered Americans.”

Additionally, the Genesis project  aims to counter China’s AI technology inflow.

The Genesis Project participants are improving security measures on AI technology to prevent crimes that threaten not only the safety of the citizens but the secrecy of this project.

The US Department of Justice recently arrested two Chinese and two Americans for attempting to smuggle Nvidia A100 and H100 AI chips to China, leading to the Congress debating on ways to track AI Chip movement across the nation.

Meanwhile, the Genesis Project has also intensified the  AI development race between China and the US.

The Trump administration has already begun to roll back AI safety laws previously passed by the Biden administration, removing all possible obstacles.

This move would give institutions within the US complete freedom to research at full speed and capacity, straightforwardly competing against China’s technology.

In contrast, China is also taking actions, but in a contrasting method.

Due to their limited access to high tech AI chip supply (GPU), China instead chose to accelerate their AI  model research.

The Genesis project is the largest  national science integration since the Apollo project, according to the Department of Energy.

Experts anticipate that this project will not only impact the US and China, but also spread AI technology to the Middle East as well as impacting other ally countries’,such as South Korea,AI development environment.

This project is also projected to greatly impact the supply and demand of technology all around the world.

Governments and companies around the globe are closely monitoring the Genesis Project, hoping it will have a positive impact on the world as a whole.
