President Trump has officially ordered his administration to prepare to deport 30,000 illegal immigrants to the Guantánamo Bay, Cuba on Wednesday.
President Donald Trump signed the Laken Riley Act on Jan 29, granting his federal authorities permission to effectively deport immigrants for those who have been accused of crimes in the past days in the United States.
The Laken Riley Act was named after Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student in Georgia who was killed by an undocumented Venezuelan resident.
Riley’s mother tearfully thanked the U.S. president with tears on Wednesday’s event, just before President Trump signed Laken Riley Act. “There’s no amount of tears that will ever bring back our precious Laken.” “Our hope moving forward is that her life saves lives,” she said.
President Trump stated, “Some of them are so bad that we don’t even trust the countries to hold them because we don’t want them coming back, so we’re gonna send ‘em out to Guantánamo,”
President Donald Trump also confirmed that the U.S. base in Guantánamo is ready to detain the illegal immigrants with 30,000 available beds.
The U.S. military base in Guantánamo has historically been used to house people from the terrorist war against the United States.
The United States has maintained control of the Guantánmao military base under the concession pact between the Republic of Cuba and the U.S. in 1903.
The government of Cuba opposed this lease after the governance of Fidel Castro and refused the U.S. rent payments.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel condemned President Donald Trump’s decision to deport immigrants to Guantánamo, stating that such actions must be prohibited.
According to President Donald Trump, he said that the United States would double the number of Guantánamo’s capacity for holding illegal immigrants.
On Wednesday, President Trump’s “border czar,” Tom Homan, confirmed that ICE, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, will oversee operations at the facility.
He also noted the possibility of directly transporting migrants that the US Coast Guard intercepts to the Guantánamo base in Cuba.
Trump Administration is intensifying its crackdown on illegal immigrants in the United States.
Since the beginning of the president's term of office, his administration has rapidly moved to working out on president Trump’s immigration policies to focus on closing the U.S. southern border.
President Trump signed a number of actions for his administration that could possibly impact a significant amount of immigrants inside the country.
Utilizing major federal authorities in the country, the U.S. caught about 1000 illegal immigrants on Jan 26.
The crackdown was carried out in Chicago, Atlanta, Colorado, L.A., Austin, and even in Hawaii and Puerto Rico, which lie outside the U.S. mainland.
The “border czar,” Tom Homan, stated that every federal authority was gathered to collaborate efficiently against national security threats. He said that this operation would be a game changer.
Some civil rights organizations have been criticizing the Trump administration, arguing that its actions violate the First and Fourth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution, which stipulate freedom of speech and the prohibition of unreasonable searches.
On the other hand, some people believe that it is very important to secure national security within the country by regulating the entrance of undocumented people from outside.
The victory of Donald Trump in the presidential election may reflect voters ' concern of the possible problems in public order in the society caused by undocumented immigrants.
The Trump administration’s policies are expected to bring diverse impacts on the future of the United States.
