Donald Trump and Kamala Harris escalate tensions through advertisements as the election nears

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump released dueling campaign advertisements that attacked one another on July 30th as the restructured US presidential election started to heat up with 98 days to go.

Kamala Harris, the US vice president, ran her advertisement, “Fearless”, after Joe Biden withdrew his campaign and declared her the de facto Democratic nominee.

The ad “Fearless” aimed to instill optimism and present a picture of a better future under Harris’ direction.

Harris emphasizes her determination to advance the nation and reject measures that solely serve the interests of the wealthy such as “To repeal the Affordable Care Act and give tax breaks to large corporations and billionaires.”

Her vision starkly contrasts with Donald Trump; she accused Trump of “taking our country backwards”.

Former president Donald Trump’s ad, “I Don’t Understand,” featured a clip of Harris answering questions about immigration policy to convey how her stance on immigration policy will endanger citizens by increasing drugs, crime, and terrorism, by the southern border.

Donald Trump strongly insists that Kamala Harris is making the US’ children and elders vulnerable and her stance can further intensify problems related to drugs, crime, and terrorism.

In Trump's advertisement, Harris was referred to as “failed, weak, and dangerously liberal” while using footage of her dancing, presenting how she is disconnected from the nation’s critical issues.

In retaliation, Harris’s campaign underscored Trump’s efforts to pressure House Republicans to oppose bipartisan border reform.

A spokesman for the Harris campaign, Ammar Moussa, told reporters, “After killing the toughest border deal in decades, Donald Trump is running on his trademark lies because his record and ‘plans’ are extreme and unpopular.

Though Harris has only been the presumed Democratic nominee for a little over a week, she has already made a good impression on the campaign, raising over $200 million.

She was regarded to be gaining a good pace in the polls.

The language of Harris’s latest advertisement pointed at Democratic determination to target Trump’s age - and to portray him as backwards-looking and a thing of the past, now that their own old man, Joe Biden, is out of the campaign picture.

The Chairperson of the Harris campaign, Jen O’Malley Dillon, praised the Democrats’ remarkable turnaround in the form of rising hopes under Harris and falling polls under Biden in a statement that accompanied the “Fearless” advertisement.

O’Malley Dillon declared, “Kamala Harris has always stood up to bullies, criminals, and for special interests on behalf of the American people – and she’s beaten them.”

This echoed the ad’s referencing of Harris’s work as Attorney General of California as well as her time as a US Senator and Vice President.

On the other hand, Trump continued to attack Kamala Harris, noting Harris’ racial identity.

He threw a remark to citizens: “Is she Indian? Or is she Black”, disparaging her race.

Harris commented on how Trump showed disrespect to others, just like he showed disrespect to other ethnicities in the past, and she claimed that America needs a leader who understands differences.

One could reminisce about Trump as a “relic of a racist past” as he also accused Barack Obama of not being born in the US in the past.

This reveals how Trump is a person who cannot accept differences and shows racism to other ethnicities.

The attacks between Trump and Harris continue, degrading the stances of one another.
