In the 2024 US presidential election, Vice President Kamala Harris saw a significant turnaround in her approval rate against Former President Donald Trump.
The 2024 US presidential election will be the 60th presidential election that is planned to be held on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024.
There were three main candidates for this election: President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Herris, and Former President Donald Trump.
Originally, the approval rating race was between Biden and Trump but the approval rating of the candidates changed rapidly as well as President Biden's resignation.
Harris has also caught up to Trump in the approval rating after Biden’s resignation with Biden’s support.
Current Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, who made history on January 20, 2021, as the first woman, the first Black American, the first South Asian American, and the first Black American to be elected in this position.
As Vice President, she has worked to bring people together to advance opportunity, deliver for families, and protect fundamental freedoms across the country.
Her tenure as Vice President has been marked by efforts to fight for the freedom of women to make decisions about their own bodies, the freedom to live safe from gun violence, the freedom to vote, and the freedom to drink clean water and breathe clean air.
Vice President Harris is rapidly emerging as a replacement candidate after President Biden’s sudden resignation from the candidacy on the 21st, and donations and support are pouring in.
After rising pressure from his party to step aside, President Biden upended the 2024 election by abandoning his bid for reelection.
Following President Biden's unexpected resignation from the presidential race, Vice President Kamala Harris said she would seek the nomination in his place, and Biden expressed his full support and endorsement on social media.
"Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump," he said. "Let's do this."
Harris, feeling honored by Biden's endorsement, said she intended to "earn and win this nomination" and "unite the Democratic Party" to "defeat Donald Trump.
Harris and Trump were tied at 44% in a July 15-16 poll, and Trump led by one percentage point in a July 1-2 poll, both within the same margin of error.
However, in a poll conducted on the 30th (after Biden’s resignation) by Reuters and the polling company Ipsos among 1,025 voters across the United States from the 26th to the 28th, Vice President Harris had an approval rating of 43%, beating former president Trump (who had an approval rate of 42%) by 1 percentage ahead.
In a Reuters and Ipsos survey conducted immediately after Biden’s resignation, Vice President Harris had an approval rating of 44%, ahead of former President Trump by 2 percentage points.
The US presidential election, which is closely tied, seems to have become an exciting game that no one could predict.
Nonetheless, the general public opinion remains that the approval rating of Vice President Harris is ahead of former President Trump.
Experts, citizens, and politicians are looking forward to the result of the presidential election due to the close match between Harris and Trump.
